This 3-day adventure takes you from the vibrant city of Marrakech across the dramatic landscapes of southern Morocco — through Berber villages, the iconic Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, the rugged Atlas Mountains, deep gorges, and finally into the golden dunes of the Sahara Desert. You’ll cross diverse terrains including palm oases, dramatic valleys, and ancient kasbahs, ending your journey in the imperial city of Fes. This tour combines breathtaking scenery, rich Berber culture, and an unforgettable night under the stars in the desert.
We depart Marrakech early morning, heading south through the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n'Tichka pass — the highest mountain pass in North Africa. Our first stop is the legendary Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage kasbah famous as a filming location for movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. We continue to Ouarzazate, known as the "Door of the Desert" and Morocco's Hollywood, before driving through the stunning Dades Valley, known for its rose-colored rock formations and traditional Berber villages. Overnight stay in a guesthouse in the Dades Valley.
After breakfast, we drive to the magnificent Todra Gorge, where towering rock walls rise up to 300 meters on either side of a narrow canyon — a paradise for nature lovers and photographers. We then pass through Erfoud, the gateway to the desert, famous for its fossils and palm groves, before arriving at Merzouga on the edge of the Sahara Desert. Here, camels await to take you on an unforgettable ride across the dunes of Erg Chebbi to your desert camp, where you'll watch the sunset over the dunes, enjoy a traditional Berber dinner, and sleep under a sky full of stars.
Wake up early to witness a spectacular sunrise over the Sahara dunes — one of the most memorable moments of the trip. After breakfast at the camp, we begin our journey north through the beautiful Ziz Valley, with its dramatic gorges and endless palm oases. We continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing cedar forests and Berber villages, before arriving in the imperial city of Fes in the evening, marking the end of this incredible desert adventure.
